Fall for Sure

Finally, it's acting like fall...the days and nights are getting cooler. Our low temperature was 37 degrees night before last! and high temps have been in the 70's and low 80's. Tomatoes in the garden are winding down, although they will keep producing until the first frost. The concord grapes are almost done ripening. We picked the last of the late peaches a few days ago. I put up several pints of peach jam, made a couple crisps (froze one for later!), dried some, and still have some for fresh eating.
We made a scarecrow and put it up by our gate and mailbox. It's simple, with an upside down flower pot as a head, fun. Once in a while we hear cars and trucks slow down by our gate and wonder if they are noticing the scarecrow... fun!
