Santa Cruz Island Lamb, first of 2016
Post date: Jun 08, 2016 7:52:27 PM
We are proud to announce the birth of our first Santa Cruz Island lamb for this year - born yesterday, June 7. As well as I can tell this lamb is a girl, single birth, can't get close enough to tell the ear tag of the mother - either 295 or 274. Mother is still very shy and protective and we don't want to stress her out by staring and pursuing her. The photo shows the west end of this lamb as she headed east with her mother. Nice milk poop coming out, hence the tail up (sorry if you are squeamish about poop - the other photo I took is worse). If you look closely you can see this lamb has a brown right ear. Since she was born on my cousin, Jeanine's, birthday, we will name her Jeanine.
Lambing has started, we hope for lots more girls!
