A few days ago, we finished putting up rain gutters! This is something I've wanted to do for several years - rain gutters and rain barrels. The idea is to collect rain that falls on our house's roof, channel it into containers, and use it during the dry season to water plants in the landscaping around the house and in the vegetable garden. We got inexpensive vinyl gutters and downspouts, lightweight so we could put them up ourselves, and used one container that formerly held organic fertilizer (fish emulsion) and another container that was used to haul water. Each container had a bulkhead fitting near the bottom and a hose bib. Not super-elegant, but should work! So exciting...now, let it rain!
