On our most recent hike, Petunia and I made it as far north as we could go, to the northernmost fence line - a three-strand barb wire fence put in by our neighbors who surround us on three sides. Very nice people, run cattle. In any case, the way I heard it, they had a mild territory dispute with the previous owner of our place, so had it surveyed, then built the fence. If you could envision how rugged these hills and canyons are, or better still, hike up and down these hills, you would appreciate how difficult an undertaking building this fence must have been. It is perfectly straight, very impressive.
